North West Leicestershire
Few districts of similar size are as physically and economically diverse as North West Leicestershire. Coal mining has been superseded by a wide range of modern industry from food distribution to high-tech manufacturing.

M1 Junction 24 at East Midlands Airport is a major hub for road
communications providing links to the North East and North West.
The A42/M42 corridor provides links to the M6 and gives rapid access
to the West Midlands and the South-West. The A511/A512 provide links
with Leicester and Loughborough respectively and through Junction 22 of
the M1 links to the South East.
East Midlands Airport in the
north of the district has passenger flights
to key European Cities and air-freight services to Japan. United Parcel
Services and DHL International have recently expanded their air freight
operations at the airport.
