He had two sisters and one brother, all known to me. However my great grandfather married twice, and we are all connnected to Bonsers as well as Armstrongs. If anyone has any info, please email me. | Comments: Dear Sir,
I am Cees Cuperus and I live in a little village named Wouw in Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands and I got your address through the internet site. I am a member of a local history and geography association. We have a list of people (most military men) they were victims of the World War II. We have her in our village 17 victims of Great Britain including 3 men of the 1th Battalion The Leicestershire Regiment. In totaling there are in Wouw 211 men and women killed during this war. Now we are looking for the history of all those people.
One of the men of the Regiment was:
- Charles William Limb (4859744, died 27-10-1944 )
(He was the son of Mrs. C. Limb, a widow, of Hermitage Road in Whitwick. He played with the Whitwick White Cross football team.)
He was killed in action here in Wouw and was tempory buried in a grave near a farm named "Zaafsel". And now we are looking for pictures of this men. May be you have pictures of him and may be you can mail or send me the pictures and perhaps more details. We have already pictures of the grave, he is buried here on the British War Cemetery in Bergen op Zoom (near Wouw). My address is:
C. Cuperus
Strijp 17
4724 EM Wouw
The Netherlands
I look forward to your reply,
Yours faithfully,
Cees Cuperus

According to the 1891 and 1901 census' my grandfather Thomas Faulkner was born in Whitwick and his marriage certificate of 1888 gave his age as 22 years so this would give his birth year of 1865/66 his father's name was given as James I have been trying for several years now to get past this and get to know of my family roots, can any one help PLEASE!!! |

He never came out alive and his body was not recovered until a year later. You can read about this in the Coroner's Report about the incident. | Comments: Dear Folks,
As so many, I am researching my family tree, and have traced my TUGBY line back to Whitwick, where a William TUGBY was a watchmaker between 1825 & 1872. I am trying to find out any information about him and his 10 children (of whom Eliza was my great x 3 grandmother). I know he is buried in St. John the Baptist graveyard and I know he had houses in Whitwick. Also his son, Sharp TUGBY, was at one time an innkeeper at the Beaumont Arms (1861, I think). Any other info would be very gratefully received.
Many thanks,

| Comments: I'm researching my family history. My Grandfather WILLIAM WILLIAMSON (born abt 1896) was from Whitwick, but during WW1 he was in convalescence in Lancashire, where he met & married my grandmother.
His father was JONATHAN WILLIAMSON & his mother was MARY MOORE. I'd love to hear from anyone who thinks these people might be connected to their family in any way
Thanks |

| Comments: Hi, I recently moved to the Village at the tail end of 2004 and think it's a lovely spot nestled in the hills. It appears I have a family history in the Village too... I understand there were Jowetts in my family tree that lived here during the 1800's. Strange how things come full circle! I'd be interested to know if anyone has any knowledge of my families roots here.
For anyone interested, I'm also seriously into weather... recording it, photographing it, chasing it etc - well someone has to! I've set up a web site http://www.photoweather.com which has a link to the weather station in my back garden. The wind readings are a bit lame because the garden is too sheltered and I really need the anemometer 10 feet above the roof line, but the rest is pretty accurate. It updates every minute, so if you want to know the latest weather in the village, just check my site.
Cheers,
Sam |

| Comments: Amazing I never thought to do a search for a site for Whitick I moved there from London with my Grandparennts on my Mothers side as her second husband came from Whitick he was Joseph Timothy Barker we lived at the top of the lane leading to the nurserys in Talbot Street (think it was no: 98) I went to school in the school down the "Dumps" and then eventually when my GrandFather became caretaker of Castle Rock Secondary school when it first opened, but my Great Grand Father was in the mine disaster of 1898 and lost a leg from the knee down and a arm and one eye, but many happy hours growing up in and around the area,
Really nice to find this site |

I was born and bred in Whitwick. My father was a Councillor after the War in the village and became the Miners Union Secretary in the 50's and 60's. He also belonged to the Royal Order of Buffalo's, I think it was called Beaumanor Lodge. Keep up the good work. |

| Comments: Hi,
I'm quite possibly the youngest member of the Whitwick Historical Group, based in the old station building on what is now North street/Market place. I was greatly dissapointed by the lack of information in the alehouses section! The group has many many photographs dating from late 1700's to 1800's of our local P.H's.

He died before 1864 when their son, William James, my Gr Gr Grandfather married. Charlotte died in 1872 in Nottingham. I would love to hear from anyone with any information on either of these families.

Have been researching my Birkin/Berkin family roots and found my Great Great Grandfather was born in the Ashby de la Zouch area. I found loads of Berkins around there, including twins Agnes and Bertha born in Whitwick in 1859. I understand there are still Berkins in the village. Would love to hear from them!
